Born in Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Todd Bivins attended Virginia Commonwealth University where he majored in biology and earned early acceptance into dental school. From 1991-1995, Dr. Bivins attended the Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree with honors. Dr. Bivins continued his specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the University of Detroit Mercy (1995-1997), where he received his certificate as an orthodontic specialist as well as a Master’s degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Beyond his collegiate accomplishments, Dr. Bivins is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Virginia Association of Orthodontists, the Tidewater Association of Orthodontists and the World Federation of Orthodontists. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and has been on the Executive Committee of the Tidewater Dental Association since 1997. Dr. Bivins’ desire to remain at the top of his game compels him to be involved in so many associations, enabling him to continually expand his orthodontic knowledge and skill.
Beyond his orthodontic accolades and his passion for creating beautiful smiles, Dr. Bivins is a helicopter pilot and an accomplished photorealistic painter. He enjoys spending his free time painting and spending time with his wife and three wonderful children in Suffolk, VA.

Yes, emergency treatment is available. All you have to do is call us if you believe you are experiencing a true orthodontic emergency. We’re even able to send an assistant to the office to meet you, for a small $75 fee, if your issue cannot wait to be addressed during normal business hours.
